The Department of Systems and Networking of CSIT offers a high profile Computer Science undergraduate programme which leads to the award of Bachelor of Computer Science (Systems and Networking) (Hons.) and Bachelor of Computer Science (Cyber Security) (Hons.).
The Bachelor of Computer Science (Systems and Networking) (Hons.) programme is designed to prepare students for professional careers by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills in the areas of communications and networking, operating systems, mobile and embedded technologies, computer security, artificial intelligence and other related areas. The programme is value-added to cater for the latest industry requirements by integrating selective syllabus from CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification courses within its curriculum.
The Bachelor of Computer Science (Cyber Security) (Hons.) is a degree programme that provides fundamental knowledge of computer science with an emphasis on theoretical and practical applications in cyber security. The focus in cyber security means that students are not only trained to protect computer systems and networks, but they are also trained to extend the security protection to humans, who are the users of the computer systems. This holistic view of security would enable the students to become technically competent in various aspects of security, as well as giving them the right mindset to take up leadership role in managing cyber security in an organization. Given that UNITEN is a subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), students are also exposed to the niche domain knowledge of security for critical infrastructure, where the expertise in this area is highly sought after in the industry. To facilitate students for immediate employment, this programme also provides the opportunity for students to take well-known security certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) by EC-Council and CCNA Security by Cisco.
